On Wednesday February 8th the Career Center is hosting a Career and Job Fair for all cadets. On Monday the 6th they will have a "Ready, Set, Hire" event where they will review resumes and prep those cadets who plan to attend the Career Fair. Both events are open to all classes.
Why should my freshman or sophomore cadet attend? Events like these are a great opportunity for these cadets to start to learn how to use Career Fairs to their advantage. Just meeting a company recruiter will help your cadet learn what companies are looking for in potential hires and become more comfortable speaking with them at future events. Also, sophomores should be looking for internships for this summer - freshmen can too!
My Junior? Hopefully, this summer your junior cadet has an internship lined up with a company that's one of their top choices of where they hope to work after graduation. Internships are like an extended interview which most cadets do well in as reflected by the large number of job offers that comes from that experience.
My Senior? For those who don't have a job offer yet, the answer is easy. For those who do, in today's world employees jump from one job to another a lot more often than in my day. These events are a great opportunity to develop relationships in the field they intend to work after graduation.
We have a superb Career Center that many cadets wait too long to engage. These events are a great way to initially meet our Center's staff and learn what services they can provide your cadet.
There are plenty of other reasons that make this a worthwhile event for your cadets to attend. They may just need a nudge from you!
